Zoey sat behind her desk and propped her chin in one hand while her brown eyes remained on the clock across the room above one of the white boards. She pursed her lips and lightly tapped her foot on the ceramic tile below her desk chair. It was just a few more seconds and the 3 O' clock bell would ring. Just as she thought this the bell rang and the kids jumped up from their desks. She did the same and smiled, waving them off. Thank God it was Friday.
Once the kids were gone she grabbed her purse and hurried to the rest rooms. As she made her way there her brown eyes searched around frantically. Nate could not show up, he could not! A sigh of relief fell from her soft lips as she entered the quiet and empty rest room. The tall female entered a stall and made sure it was locked before pulling a small box from her purse.
It was a pregnancy test. The second one today. The first had to be wrong and this test in her hands was going to prove her thoughts. Zoey took the test and squeezed her eyes shut once she was finished. The female then held the test up and she opened one eye slowly. As she did so a pink plus sign stared her dead in the face. She bit her lip and stuffed the test into her purse. It was wrong. She had to of bought a defective test, she had to of!
Zoey let herself out of the stall and she washed her shaky hands. After drying them and throwing the paper towel away she exited the rest room. She moved along the halls quickly toward her destination, the library. After reaching it she slipped inside and smiled to the kind librarian reading behind her desk. The woman smiled back before Zoey slipped off to the farthest section in the back where the other woman couldn't see her. Nor could anyone else for that matter.
In the very back where you couldn't be seen was the maternity section. It was one whole row of books about pregnancy and babies. It had things from symptoms of pregnancy to how to feed and take care of your new baby. Zoey migrated toward the pregnancy books. One especially caught her eye: "Pregnant?! How to deal with it." She opened it and read the description. It was to all those women who didn't think they would be getting pregnant anytime soon. She fit into that category.
Just as Zoey began to leaf through the first chapter she heard foot steps coming from somewhere. She jammed the book onto the shelf and scurried away from the baby row. She stopped in a row about supernatural things. The female let out breath and leaned against the book shelf. That was close.
